Sclerotherapy Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy is a modern walk in walk out treatment for small varicose veins. It is usually used to treat the smaller veins from your legs including thread and spider veins. It's a simple non-surgical procedure that is usually performed under local anaesthetic and takes around 30 to 40 minutes.

During sclerotherapy, a specialist injects a sclerosing agent into the affected vein. When the agent comes into contact with the veins, it irritates the vein vessels which causes them to scar and become less visible. Spider vein sclerotherapy does not remove the vein itself—it diminishes the vein’s appearance. Following the procedure, you will have healthier appearing veins.

How many sessions of sclerotherapy is needed for spider veins?

It varies from individual to individual but typically 2-4 treatments are required for the best results. In patients with a few veins, 1-2 sessions will suffice. More treatments are required where veins are more numerous and extensive.
